Sarah is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Psychotherapist with over 25 years of experience helping adults manage emotional difficulties. She has worked across a wide range of settings including inpatient and outpatient hospitals and community organisations, as well as in independent practice. Sarah has a keen interest in the mind-body connection, which she developed through her roles in the NHS, where she established specialist services in collaboration with stakeholders, commissioners and clinicians.

In her most recent NHS role, Sarah led a specialist mental health service for people struggling with both mental health and physical health difficulties. She has extensive experience working in multidisciplinary teams and supervising clinicians across various health related specialties. Sarah brings a wealth of expertise in addressing issues related to sex and sexuality, including compulsive sexual behaviours. In the private sector, she has worked within residential substance misuse services, providing input into the complex mental health needs of clients and supervising therapists and drugs workers.

Sarah is fluent in CBT, Interpersonal Therapy and mindfulness-based interventions, such as Compassion Focused Therapy. As a Psychotherapist, Sarah is well-versed in contemporary evidence-based psychoanalytic models, such as Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) and Mentalisation Based Therapy (MBT) and is also trained in EMDR.

Sarah has a special interest in integrating models to create tailored interventions that aim to address the traumatic components of experiences that lead to distress and emotional dysregulation. Sarah is active, curious, and compassionate, offering a resonant space to explore how history shapes the patterns that people seek to change. She warmly welcomes LGBTQ and neurodiverse clients.

After working in the NHS for more than 20 years, Sarah is now in full-time independent practice and brings her extensive experience and expertise to Blue Room offering psychological therapy, clinical supervision and training.
