Staff Wellbeing
Working in roles that involve supporting vulnerable service users and communities, or being regularly exposed to distressing material, can have a profound emotional impact. We recognise that this work, while meaningful and rewarding, can also leave professionals feeling depleted, overwhelmed, and distressed over time.
As professionals with a trauma specialism, we have had our own experiences of vicarious traumatisation and, at times, felt close to burnout. We bring insight and compassion to thinking with other professionals about how to sustain and resource ourselves to continue doing the work we love well, and to build trauma-informed and resilient workplaces.
Prioritising staff wellbeing is not only an ethical responsibility but also essential for sustaining compassionate, effective practice. A trauma-informed approach extends to the workplace itself — creating a culture where psychological safety, reflection, and open conversations about emotional impact are encouraged and normalised.
We provide tailored packages that support staff wellbeing, which include consultation to leadership teams, clinical supervision, reflective practice, and support for staff working in complex and challenging situations. This provision can help to reduce burnout and vicarious trauma, foster resilience and growth, and contribute to cost savings, reduced absenteeism, and improved staff retention.
Reflective Practice and Clinical Support
Reflective practice sessions are safe, focused spaces for learning and reflection in relation to our experiences at work. Facilitated individual reflective sessions and/or group sessions with colleagues can help to understand our emotional responses, interactions, and decision-making in relation to challenging situations, complex clients, and traumatic material.
Group work can improve communication across teams and reduce isolation by normalising difficult feelings and connecting staff to shared values.
Clinical support can be provided for team members who feel they would benefit from focused guidance in understanding, engaging with, and supporting particular service users with complex histories and needs.
This helps professionals provide effective and sensitive services, while also developing the tools to protect themselves from vicarious traumatisation and burnout — enhancing overall organisational wellbeing and resilience.
Compassionate Leadership Training
Compassionate leadership is central to fostering a trauma-informed and resilient workplace. Research shows that staff working within supportive teams — with strong, emotionally aware, and engaged leaders — experience significantly lower levels of stress. Compassionate leadership has been linked to greater staff engagement and job satisfaction, which in turn contributes to better organisational outcomes.
Our consultation and training supports those in senior leadership roles to recognise that staff bring not only their professional expertise, but also their own histories, stressors, and vulnerabilities to the work. Our training encourages leaders to listen with empathy and curiosity, whilst also acknowledging the difficult decisions they often have to make.
Clinical Supervision
We offer clinical supervision to other psychologists, aiming to create psychologically safe, collaborative spaces where we can think together about clinical dilemmas and best practice. We have limited spaces available.
