Mary trained and worked as a Clinical Psychologist in South Africa prior to coming to the UK. She has been working at the Traumatic Stress Clinic at North London Foundation Trust since 2002 as a consultant psychologist and Head of Service.

She has many years of experience in the field of adult mental health with specialist expertise in working with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder in a range of different contexts. Prior to her current position, Mary managed the Trauma Clinic, Centre for the Study of Violence and Reconciliation, in South Africa. She has had international experience in consultancy, training, programme evaluation and policy development.

Through her management experience in South Africa and the UK, Mary understands the impact of engaging with traumatic material on teams and services and brings this expertise to her organisational consultancy work with team leaders. Mary also works in independent practice offering specialist therapy and medicolegal assessment. Mary has worked closely with Jocelyn to develop Blue Room's trauma-informed practice training and consultancy work.
